I’m Mikey, founder of The Crochet Crowd and tutorial host for learning to knit. I don’t spend much time in front of the camera as I usually start with just my hands and a quick introduction to the what we are going to be learning.

I learned to do the garter stitch when I was a kid with my mother. I never did any projects with the skills. When I was 14, I asked how to crochet from my mom. I gravitated towards crochet and my adult years have been spent crocheting.
I’ve been crocheting for nearly 30 years. I’ve always wanted to learn how to knit but like a typical creature of habit, I always end up back on the crochet hook without giving knitting a fair chance for me to learn.
The Knit Crowd concept for me is development based on conversations with my team at Yarnspirations plus the internal desires to what to learn.
My new found skills are a result of asking for help from what I classify as experts at the Yarnspirations Customer Service plus friends willing to share with me tricks and ideas. I’m learning alongside you. This means I may make errors in terminology and there may be better ways to do things. I don’t classify myself as an expert of knitting. I have to learn how to read patterns and understand the different stitches.
How this website will work is simple:
Stitches and concepts will be shown on our dedicated YouTube Channel. You can find those in the Tutorials selection on the main menu. The YouTube Channel is categorized to help you find content easier.
When a pattern is reference in a video or a write up about a specific pattern, you will be able to find it on this website. This website acts as a back up for the YouTube Channel and will continue share with you more free patterns as time goes by.
Left Handed Versions will be linked here on the relevant articles but the left handed will be on our dedicated left handed channel for both Crochet and Knitting.
Thank you for adding me to group.Looking forward to taking up my knitting needles again.π€
This was my New Year’s resolution for last year (2016) and I failed. I know it can do it this year if Mikey is the instructor. I am so excited and TY!

YOU ROCK, Mikey! Thanks for including we knitters!
Do we need to sign up? TY for the KnitCrowd! I love Crochet Crowd and steer newbies to you all time. I’m not the fastest knitter so will love learning along with you! Happy New Year!
I know the basics already but need to practice so i’ll be doing that with you! This is great π
Yes! This is so perfect! My New Year’s Resolution was to learn how to knit! I’m so excited. I’m sure it will be as great as The Crochet Crowd! π
OMG….learning to knit is one of my 2017 goals! I LOVE your crocheting projects/tutorials but like you, I want to learn knitting…SOOOOOOOO excited you will now be my guide… THANK YOU!
Oh my goodness. You’re doing left handed tutorials here too??? I have hopes I can learn now. Yay!
Yippy!! I love to knit and crochet.
You can do it! After years of crocheting, I picked up the needles again & forced myself to really learn. Took me 2 years to master sock making…now I love knitting on Circular needles & double pointed needles, too! You can make beautiful cables or simply stick with knitting in the round. My first love will always be crochet, but embrace the challenge & love the new stitches you can do with a set of needles! <3 be the little engine…I think I can, I know I can, I did it! Embrace the challenge!
I have knitted since 5 years old, My Grandma passed away before she could teach me crochet, so had lessons, joined a craft group, to learn, Then along came utube and the wonderful world of everything you want to learn was in my own lounge room. I love knitting and crochet, and go between the both when hands start to ache I change to the other. Really looking forward to the knit crowd, as love crochet crowd. Now we will have best of both worlds.
Love to crochet and knit. Just picked up my knitting needles last week to make last minute hat and scarf for Christmas present. Had not knitted in about a year. Can’t wait to see what you come up with.
Omg… This is soooo me!! I’ll learn along with you. I’ve always wanted to learn & tried a few times, but my fear is not knowing how to fix problems as well. I’m really looking forward to this series! I’m a hooker at heart, but always love knitted items. Can’t wait to begin!
Brilliant stuff. I learnt to knit young but then put it to one side for crocheting. I’m probably equal skill level at both and enjoy both. I look forward to watching some of the tutorials π
I have knit off and on for as long as I have crocheted but always drifted back to crochet. Can’t wait to see your tips and projects
I am looking forward to your new site!
Love knitting and learning cables are fun love mikey and. His friend and knitting. Crochet. Are fun. When I can’t. Sleep I knit.
I haven’t picked up my knitting needles in over 10 years. I’m looking forward to learning new skills, and refreshing old ones.
Thank you for making this lovely site for beginners like me.
I am excited !! Do you think I can learn to knit, I just turned 75, I crochet a lot, but would love to learn to knit β€οΈβ€οΈ
This is going to be so cool. I’m a left handed bi-stitual crafter. When I learned to knit and crochet, I was taught by right handed grandmothers. There was no YouTube or internet. I had to teach myself to mentally interpret right handed patterns. It has become so automatic that left handed tutorials almost seem odd. Thank you for all you do….you’re awesome.
I’m very happy and proud for you Michael! And will follow along to learn as well.
So glad to see this. I crochet and knit but knitting is my first love.
It’s great you’re showing how to “left handed “
Yay! Thankyou!
This is great! Thank you!
Good news, thank you Mickey.
Mikey , this is awesome!! I have dozens of knitting needles but they are gathering dust. I can do the garter stitch and thats all. I’m looking forward to learning with you. Go knit crowd. By the way, I love the crochet crowd.
Absolutely fantastic!
love this…….
I’m so excited!
Wow! I love this!
I love this! Thanks
I picked up knitting after watching a live video stream of Mikey I think before summer. I had tried once before, 2 years ago when I first learn to crochet and put it down the next day lol. But after seeing your video this year and you were showing the continental way of knitting, I tried again and found it to be a nice change. So excited to learn more along with you!!
not sure how long I will stay with the group, but enjoying, so far.
Altho’ I have been knitting/crocheting over a decade (and the rest!!!) picked up knowledge this week
best wishes and a good 2017, to you and the Diva
xxxxx
How exciting! Congratulations on your new site.
Mikey, I’m like you. My mom taught me how to knit at a young age, but I took to crocheting as it seemed easier to me. My sisters can do both, but not me. I want to knit, but shy away. Thank you for this, as I think I might try again at the old age of 60. Maybe I’ll have some patience. π
Thanks for taking on this challenge.
Basic knitting is about all I know, I can’t wait to learn more. π
I’m glad I thought myself after my mom died as she tried many times to teach me.i learned crocheting when I was a Kidd from mom and a church group.
I’ve learned so much from you on crocheting I am hoping to learn more about knitting. Thanks Mikey looking forward to this!!!
Can’t wait, doing my happy dance.
Anxious to see your site.
I am so proud!, our little Mikey is now bi-stitchual.
Thank you for the help, I have always been able to understand your tutorials.
Thanks for starting this group up. I’ve learned tons on the Crochet Crowd page and plan on learning how to knit here. I actually received knitting needles for Christmas. Always great to have tools to start with.
So happy to hear you’re continuing with The Knit Crowd π
You are so incredible,Mike. Congratulations on launching this new journey into creativity with us!
It’s kinda nice to learn as you learn. I am not sure which type of Knitting best suits me. I found a YouTube video showing 4 types.
English, Continental, Portuguese, and Scottish/Cottage. I’m thinking I’m Continental, I pick, the yarn instead of throw. But I’m am so dang slow. I’m totally jealous of the speed Knitters! π
Thank you so much for this. I have learned so much from your crochet site, and i just can’t wait for the knitting videos, this is a dream come true!
I do both. I am excited to join the Knit Crowd too! Thank you….
Looks great. Can’t wait to watch it flourish.
This is wonderful! Thank you..
