1. I wanted to point out an error in the written pattern, for row 5 it says to do a pattern of 1 bobble and 1 hdc 4 times you get to the top to do the increase. The chart and the youtube video say to separate the bobble stitches with 2 half double crochet stitches, not just one. If you stich one it will give you more than 4 bobbles before you get to the top.

   1. Meredith, I will have Jeanne circle back. It’s possible my video is incorrect or slightly modified as well.

   2. The repeat is [1 hdc in next st, 1 bobble in next st, 1 hdc in next st] four times. So that means, there will be 2 hdc between each bobble. We each just stated it a bit different.

   1. I absolutely love this pattern! I’m using Caron Swirl Cakes/cookies and cream, to make this. My only question, however, is whether or not a border (at least in the sides) would make sense. It would certainly give to a cleaner look.

      1. My suggestion is to try it, see if you like it, if not it’s easy enough to fix. Crochet is all about trial and error, there are so many thing’s I have tried to see if I like it or not usually by the 4th row I can determine if I’m going to like it or not.

      2. I have made the blanket with and without a border. My suggestion is to join the group Facebook page. There you will find many pictures of the finished projects and all the different types of finishing touches used.

3. I was able to get the pattern by clicking on the Pink words Hugs & Kisses Baby Blanket in the first paragraph as I couldn’t get the button to work either.

   1. I am unable to duplicate the error for the button. It seems to work for me. I have reconfigured again, just in case it triggers a positive response.

4. Can’t find the pattern anywhere. Someone said hit the blue button but there isn’t one. Others say search the pattern name, all it does it come back to this screen where there is no pattern. Thanks.

      1. How much yarn you would need, would depend on how big you want to make it, and also on your tension.

6. I was unable to fine the colors i wanted to use in the Baby Cakes, I am using Bernat Baby Coordinates which is a #3 yarn, do i need to add extra stitched to the chain to obtain the same size blanket? the blanket you made uses a “H” hook and the material i want to use is a “G” hook.

9. Sherri, Row 1 is foundation so you work the chain and end ou at left side. Row 2 is single crochet.Go back to the right following patter. Row 3 is the cross stitch. You will head back to left. Row 4 is the sc. Crochet row which brings you back to right side. Row 5 is the bobble/popcorn whichever you prefer.This roe takes you back to left again. Row six is the sc crochet row over to the right. Simply repeat. No need to cut yarn. Singles after each row.

    1. The stitch count is 155 for each row. I would suggest putting stitch markers in the top of the peak and in with 3tog valleys to hold your place until you nail the pattern down.     2. Hi All I was having same problem until I ripped everything out and started again. To begin, you must chain 158 stitches. Dc in Fourth chain from hook. You will now be working in 154 stitches across your work.
       DO A ROW AND COUNT THEM. Now, between the Peak (top) and the valley (3 dc decrease) , there should be 12 stitches. Tells you in row 2
       Hope this is clear. I am having trouble on the row AFTER the popcorn row. It would be Row 2, SC all the way across. Cant figure it out. HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

       1. So far I’ve crocheted this pattern twice. It is a little confusing because single crochet always messes me up at the beginning of a row. I’ve had to pull out some rows here and there, but I managed to make two blankets and they both came out beautifully. Just pay careful attention and COUNT YOUR STITCHES.

    3. Me too. Also where in the pattern are the other double crochet rows I see in the photo. My bobbles wind up on the wrong side also. Is there a revised pattern and video?

       1. We have reviewed this already, we cannot duplicate what others are doing wrong to be missing a stitch. Sorry, I have been away on an event for 2.5 weeks.

    5. The issue is there is an error in the bobble row directions that I noticed by watching the tutorial. The * section should read hdc, bobble, hdc, hdc, repeat from * to peak, 3 hdc…

       So after the peak or valley the is one hdc but work 2 hdc between each bobble.

This is what happened to me I kept trying to fix the problem and after 30 row it was getting worse so I tore the whole thing out and starting over.In the video he says to put two stitches in the first st and crochet in the next 5 and and then do the valley.when I watched the video he goes back into the 5 the stitch to start the valley of 4 stitches .Just can’t figure it out???

       1. Ruth Stimmel I have the exact same problem but when I go back into the 5th stitch, the 3sc in one stitch does not start in the middle of the 3sc in one stitch but start at the first sc of the 3sc in one stitch.

       2. Hi, been there done that!!!!!!!! Ch 158, Double crochet in 4th chain from hook.
          The Chain 3 and the DC count as the 2DC in the stitch at the beginning. Next, carry on down the chain and do 1 double crochet in next 5 chains. DC3 tog. using the next 3 chains (valley) or bottom of chevron.Next, DC in each of next 12 stitches. This next stitch you will be making the PEAK, so put 3 DC in next stitch. Carry on with DC in next 12 stitches and DC 3 together for valley. Repeat until you are making your last VALLEY with the 3 DC alotted for. Now, 1 dc in next 5 DC and put 2DC in last stitch or final chain. TURN work to start row 2 which is the sc row. Hope this helps. Read the pattern over 3x to get in brain. make notes. It is worth the frustration. Good Luck

13. Just finished this pattern, it’s lovely but the sides curl in. I am going to make it again with a different set of colors, any suggestions on how to keep the sides from curling?

I want to make the Hugs and Kisses blanket, but I really want to make the one that’s rainbow colored–so bright and beautiful! When I look at that bright rainbow blanket, it looks different from the one shown in the pattern. To my very, VERY uneducated eye, the rainbow one looks like there aren’t as many rows between the color bands as the pattern’s photo. Am I just imagining that? If there truly are fewer rows between the color bands, can you tell me what I should do to create the rainbow blanket?

       8. Hi Barb I think I have figured out what you are asking. I checked the picture of the.. Rainbow Blanket. I think it is gorgeous. I think you would make the rainbow pattern the same as the Hugs and Kisses Blanket.
          Row 1 is the chain
          Row 2 is coming back with singles
          Row 3 is Criss Cross
          Row 4 is sc coming back
          Row 5 is Bobble
          Row 6 is sc coming back
          From here just change your band colour and repeat.

16. i am making this blanket in different colors because, of course, I can never find what the directions call for. The blanket is coming out beautifully but I do have problems. Single crochet throws me off every time and sometimes I find myself pulling out a previous row because my peaks and valleys don’t seem to line up right. But I’m working through it. My problem in that my edges are curling along the long sides. Any suggestions on a finishing edge for when I’m done? Thanks for posting this pattern.

    1. Melissa, I deleted that pattern 2 weeks ago due to complaints about how it looks. in frustration of the complaints, I just axed it out and deleted it. I no longer have the pattern. I saw another request early for this and took it off of Ravelry as well.

19. I love this pattern! I’m making this for my managers first baby. I too had trouble with the bobble row until I realized the pattern repeat began and ended with hdc, so my first 2 sections have 6 bobbles . It still looks fine and I don’t think she’ll notice, lol. I like to crochet in all white for new babies with trim in colors. There’s nowhere to put the trim so it is all white and gorgeous!! This pattern is truly a work of patience and love, I have to count every stitch, but the result is just beautiful.

20. I have started this over and over again. I use 158 stitches and still fall short when doing the bobbles. I was so uptight about not getting this right that my daughter started it and by the 5th row there was one side where only 3 bobbles could be made. I understand that there is one bobble where there is only on hdc and the rest are two. I have read the instructions over and over again. HELP!!

21. I am confused, why is Miley marking row one as the right side in the video?
    I get to my bobble row but when I look at the previous stitches they are the right side facing me?
    I have followed the pattern and it appears that the right side of this afghan is looking at the back side of the double crochet rows and cross stitch rows.
    Any help clearing this up would be appreciated.

    1. The bobble row is worked on the wrong side. Don’t pay attention to any other references in any of the videos to the right or wrong side. All of the other stitches at not as important as the bobble row when it comes to this blanket.

    2. I noticed the same thing. I do understand that the bobble row is the important row. But what I have done is after I finish the bobble row I push the bubbles thru to pop out onto the other side. Maybe that will help you.

23. Hi! I love this pattern, I’m having a bit of an issue with row 2 though. It says Ch1, 2 sc in the same stitch. Are you saying to 2 sc in the bottom of the chain? or the next stitch over?

    1. Bottom of the chain. It’s your increase.

25. I’m having difficulty with row 5. In your picture, there are 4 bobbles from peak to valley. I’m ending up with 6. I’ve started over about 7 times! I thought I was pretty good at reading patterns. Any advice or thoughts on what I might be doing wrong?

    1. The repeat is hdc, bobble, hdc…. so that means there are 2 hdc in between each bobble.
       From peak, hdc, bobble, hdc, hdc, bobble, hdc, hdc, bobble, hdc, hdc, bobble, hdc, valley. That’s 12 stitches with 4 bobbles. Hope that helps. 🙂

26. Don’t understand why my comment keeps disappearing, but I’ll try for the third time. I am having trouble proceeding beyond row 4. If you follow pattern, the 5th row, which is bobbles, will have the bobbles pop out on the WRONG side. The only way to prevent that would be to cut the yarn and start row five on the other end, yet the pattern does not say to do so. I cannot understand how to proceed beyond row 4.

    1. I just love this pattern! Thank you. I went up to an I hook, made 2 less repeats, and made 4-dc bobbles, and it’s perfect!

27. I am having a problem with proceeding beyond row 4. Unless you cut the yarn and start at other end to do the bobble row, the bobbles will pop onto the wrong side. The pattern does not indicate that you should break the yarn and start at other end. I am having problems working beyond row 4. Actually, it appears that the first row is actually a ‘right’ side row…

    1. Hi Sherri. Row 1 is marked as the WS, wrong side, so all the odd numbers rows are working on the wrong side. So for row 5, it’s correct. The bobbles pop to the opposite side of what you are actually hooking, so when you flip it over, it’s the right side. Hope this makes sense.

    1. I personally do not know if they is a way to download a video from YouTube to a personal device. Maybe Google search to see if there is a solution.

       3. The first blanket I did O changed after row 9 bit when done my first section was larger than the rest. The next one I changed just before row 9 and it made all the sections even.

30. I love this pattern but am not in love with the way the colors flow….like not completing a row in the color it started in. How would you break down the individual colors to determine how many skeins/yrds you’d need/color??? And then to determine how many rows to use an individual color for?

    1. I think deciding on colors would be up to you, but when I used the cakes, the yarn changed about every other row. It depended on the stitch though because the bobble row is a bit more of a yarn hog. How much yarn would be determined after you decide how many different colors you prefer. As Mikey always says, you are the artist. 🙂

31. I have a silly question, I’m trying to pick out colors for this blanket but I’m needing to know how many rows are in each ‘section’ if that makes sense. So from one bubble row to the next bubble row. Follow me? lol

32. Hello! I love the look of your blanket and I am following your instructions along with watching videos posted because I have never done the Crosstitch or the bobbles stitch before. I am starting row five but it looks like my bobbles will be on the back of the blanket? Am I supposed to End row four and start at the end of my row so the bobbles are to the front?
    I am also making this blanket for a new grandbaby !!!

    1. Bobbles are always worked from the wrong side. The odd number rows are the wrong side. Actually, the only stitch done on the right side of the blanket is the sc rows. Can’t wait to see yours. 🙂

    2. I too have a problem with the first five rows. When you complete row 4 ( repeating row 2), you will be on right side of work. But row 5 is a bobble row and must be worked on wrong side. You would have to cut the yarn and start at other end, yet the pattern does not indicate to do so. I cannot figure out how to work beyond row 4… 🙁

       1. Row 5 actually isn’t bobble. It’s popcorn stitch and those are worked on the right side of the work.

    3. I can’t seem to find anywhere where it states how many skeins of yarn are needed. I’m going to use the Caron cakes vs. the baby cakes. Can someone please advise! Thanks!
