Crochet Swirl Hat
An old pattern but trending is the Crochet Swirl Hat by Yarnspirations. Once the idea clicks in our head, these are actually easy to maintain. Due to the way it’s constructed, it gives it a level of intermediate for crochet but I think an experienced beginner or easy level crocheter can manage this.
Heads on Clearance Deal
To be transparent, I didn’t realize that Patons Lace Sequin Yarn was actually discontinued. In fact, they are clearing it for half price on Yarnspirations. However, this pattern is still fabulous. So I have found two alternative yarns to play with.
I did the prototype with Bernat Softee Baby Cotton yarn using a 4.5 mm / G crochet hook. You use about 75% of the ball for this. You can see the sample in the tutorial. Fits nice and looks super. This is a mix like the Caron Cotton cakes of 60% cotton, 40% acrylic.
For the tutorial itself, I used the brand new Patons Hempster yarn which is a mix of hemp and cotton. 55% hemp, 45% cotton. This yarn doesn’t much elasticity to it. So I have a video correction to reduce the hook to a 4 mm / G hook instead to make it a bit smaller to fit more stuff. You can still use the 4.5 mm / G Hook but it doesn’t have the snug-ness that you might enjoy in a hat. I leave these three choices to your discretion.
