Crochet Virus Shawl

The Crochet Virus Shawl by Julia Marquardt is one of the most famous shawls of today’s era. Luckily for you, it is a free pattern available that she offers. This pattern is the most requested pattern from our team to locate and out of courtesy of our time to continually answer this question and to this designer, we are providing a direct link to her Ravelry Page where you can find the pattern.

On Julia’s Ravelry, it will give you instructions to find this free pattern in German or English. Please note the English Version is not provided in written format, it’s only a crochet diagram to follow. Luckily, the diagram is easy to follow.

Understanding the German Website

Start here on Julia’s Ravelry to begin. The free link is on the Ravelry Main Page for this project. Click that and go to Woolpedia where the pattern is.

The website’s first language is in German. A pop-up window will appear. Don’t let that frighten you, I’ve run it through the translator program to see what it’s saying. It’s safe.

The pop up saying the following to you:

  • We use cookies to personalize ads. We also provide information about your use of our website to our partners for Werbung.Mehr

To continue you have to click Zustimmen which means, “Agree”. This will get rid of the pop-up and you can continue. If you wish not to agree, you cannot continue with this website and this pattern is not available to you to use.

How to Read Crochet Diagrams

For those who are struggling to read the Crochet Diagram, I have a tutorial on the basics of reading a crochet diagram that will help you. It’s about understanding the symbols and following along.

What color yarn was used in the picture? Love the color but doesn’t say what the color is.

    Thank you

I’m really not sure. I opened the pattern but it doesn’t say. I’m sorry. I don’t know.

Please do not stop making written patterns. I’m sure I’m not the only one who despises those chart things.

The Virus Shawl was not designed by us.

Is there a place other than Ravelry for getting the shawl pattern? I no longer use Ravelry. Thanks.

Check to see who the designer is and then google it. She may have created a website where this pattern is. I’m unsure if she is hosting a separate website as websites cost her additional money to run for this free pattern to give out. I do understand why you don’t want to use Ravelry. Best wishes.

Doesn’t help people who can’t read charts or learn from video.

Mikey.. please consider that many crocheters prefer written or photo tutorials.

I’d follow you more if you were more accessible.

    Dear Mikey,
thanks for the explanation on how to use our German website!
There is an updated Virus shawl video for part 1 on our channel.
Sorry for the change, but this one will stay on Youtube forever: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HeQlDR4PMI4
If you have time, it would be great to update the embeded video and the playlist.

We wish a happy new year!

    Regards, Chris & Julia Marquardt

Just some friendly feedback… This is a German site and not a Dutch site? Thanks so much for organizing all this info in one place and provide us with this resource. Warm wishes.
